Someone smarter than I coined the following sentence. We are now in the Golden Age of Stupidity.
Bravo. This statement is unquestionably true. And there is an older sentence that now, in light of recent history, rings as equally undeniably true. That sentence is: Stupid is, as stupid does. So, let’s take a quick look at what stupid has done in recent months. After all, stupidity has accomplished a lot recently.
What makes a person too stupid? Well, there are a lot of things you can do to prove you are a bit too stupid for your own wellbeing. Here is a short list.
You are not bright enough for your own good, if you are too stupid to take a vaccination in a pandemic. That should probably say more than enough, already. But let’s go on. Further qualifications for being too stupid include:
Stupid enough to believe that COVID-19 transmission is fake news, and that the vaccinations actually GIVE you the disease. A not insignificant percentage of those unvaccinated individuals who have died of COVID in crowded hospitals, did so on their death beds stating that it was a hoax, or alternately, admitting that they “had no idea” it was real.
Stupid enough to believe there was a child sex ring operating out of the non-existent basement of a pizzeria. For those stupid enough to want more of this, there was the conspiracy theory that a "satanic cabal of elites" of a New World Order, operated international child sex trafficking rings.
Stupid enough to believe that the World Health Organization, the CDC, the Surgeon General, Chief Medical Advisor to the President Anthony Fauci, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health and Human Services, the individual State health departments, and the mainstream news media are not to be trusted, and instead you should fully trust in the likes of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
In light of more than enough refutations, stupid enough to still believe the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and that Donald Trump actually won the vote count.
Stupid enough to believe that the January 6 insurrection in which people died, was a legal, peaceful demonstration.
Stupid enough to believe that the seven-hour and 37-minute gap in President Trump’s phone log on January 6 represents an innocent, honest mistake in the face of Nixon’s 18-minute gap having sent him from the presidency.
Stupid enough to buy into the Jewish space laser story.
Stupid enough to get together with a whole bunch of stupid people and line the streets of Dallas, just to be there when the deceased JFK Jr miraculously re-appears, in the flesh.
Stupid enough to believe journalist Anderson Cooper actually EATS BABIES, because he works for CNN. No, really. Some poor fools actually BELIEVED this.
Do you need more? How about if we “trust in the young” to rescue us from the stupidity of elders in our society. No, I am afraid there is no help coming from the young, these days. In recent years, we find things like TikTok challenges dominating the thought of our young teens. What is a TikTok challenge? Here are a few examples.
The Tide pods challenge was one in which teens were “challenged” to bite down on a pod of highly concentrated laundry detergent. Why they did this is a bit murky, but hundreds of them did it. It was promoted to them in a YouTube video, which YouTube promptly took down when the poisoning cases became known.
So the challenges moved to a different platform, TikTok. Some of the challenges have been dismissed as nothing more than urban legend, but there is no telling how many stupid people may have thought otherwise. One such challenge had its participants chugging 190 proof Everclear, which is, of course, quite dangerous. Another challenge involved soaking a tampon in Everclear and inserting it into your anus, to “get really, really drunk.” Still another fine example was the condom snorting challenge. No, really. The idea was to snort a latex condom into your nasal cavity and then on into the back of your throat, presumably without dying.
One more involved drinking boiling water. Does stupid is as stupid does, ring a bell? The Golden Age, for sure. In fact, it would appear that we may be on the cusp of peaking in the Golden Age of Stupidity. Vaccination? No, thanks. I heard that it implants a microchip that programs your behavior. Pandemic? No, I heard that was fake news. Oh, no, I’ll be fine.
